Exciting!!! I was chosen to participate in the Midwest Mustang Challenge! Above are a couple of photos of the mare that I was given. She is a 4yr old captured from Twin Peaks, Nevada. She is proving to be very smart and I am excited about her progress. She is letting me touch her more and more everytime I go out by her. She is even starting to lead. She really likes me when I am sitting aboard another horse. she will let me scratch her all over her back, neck and face. Its only been 3 days and I am becoming her friend. It is really a great feeling. Well it is our 8th day with this pretty girl and we saddled her for the first time and she was a good girl! We then introduced her to a tarp and she enjoyed it once she figured out it wasn't a horse eating tarp! If you click on the picture below it will enlarge. She has decided to pick up the tarp herself! Things are going well so far!!!!Watch for more pictures and updates!!! Wow! We are at the 2 week mark already! How time flies! Saddling is going very well and a couple of my girls have gotten on for me while I lead them around. She is doing very well with that also. My goal is to have her ready for me to ride by myself next week. Reached our goal! I rode Sally by myself in the roundpen on Sunday after the girls rode her on the line! She did good and moved off my leg very well. Today Tuesday January 29th I took Sam out of the arena and had her ride her off the line. Sally did great with her. A Little unsure, but did a good job. Oh, we named her Mustang Sally! Pictured below: Christina 1st one all the way on. Nikki trotting in roundpen with Richelle directing Sally. Then Sam riding free in the arena! Then me riding alone in the arena. She is trotting very well and starting to canter. What a smooth Canter. She also had her feet trimmed by the farrier. Thanks for your patience with Sally Bill Oakley. She was really good! WOW!!! CHECK OUT SALLY ON THE NEWS TONIGHT!! GO TO www.wjfw.com and click on the story about the Midwest Mustang Challenge. They did a GREAT JOB!!! Also I rode sally out in the deep snow down the trail today and she did GREAT!!!! Well only a little over a month left. Wow! is time flying by now. Sally is doing great! She is cantering better and better everyday! She is really a special horse. Today I put her outside in the big arena with 2 of the other horses and every time she saw me come around the corner or outside she would watch me and yes, she was the first one to the gate when I went to put her in. She is so sweet and loving! Truly a special mare with alot of try! Hard to believe 2 short months ago she was a WILD MUSTANG! She is definately not wild at all anymore! The challenge is over and Sally is back at the barn. Friends pooled moneys together and brought her home! She did a fine job in Madison, but we did not make the top ten. We had some trouble with the crowd and the small dark trailer. Oh, well she still did great and looked awesome! COME SEE SALLY AND WATCH FOR FUTURE CLINICS FEATURING HER AND OUR TRAINING TECHNIQUES!
